Intuition according to the urban dictionary is: The ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning.
Or a thing that one knows or considers likely from instinctive feeling rather than conscious reasoning another term for intuition is a gut feel. I normally say I get a sense or a feeling. This to me means that something that is not physically evident I can sense or get a feeling about. My intuition has served me well in my life. I do believe that the more we rely on our intuition the sharper it gets. I also believe that men and women are equally able to tap into their intuition.
The gift is available to us both. However, I have noticed more women talk about it and rely on it. I have coached leaders both men and women with varying abilities on the intuition spectrum. Many women that I work with who are partners of sex workers will talk about how they just knew their husbands had watched porn, or been with their conquests or even thought about another woman. This 6th sense is very strong in partners of sex addicts.
It is a protective mechanism that shows us that something is off. It is a response to trauma that this intuitive response is sharpened. It is also known as a triggered response. Often through open communication, commitment and honesty partners of sex addicts can come out of their triggered states and develop trust with and for the partner which further develops intuition.
Intuition is seeing with the soul.
Dean Koontz
Often people refer to intuition as the 6th sense. Hearing, seeing, tasting, smelling and touching is the first 5 senses. The 6th sense or intuition is what we tend to rely on when our 5 senses fail us or we feel we cannot rely on them. Sensing is a lovely way to express our human need to feel into our lives in ways beyond the empirical nature of life. To feel into another realm, another reality, another time or zone.
“Come from the heart, the true heart, not the head. When in doubt, choose the heart. This does not mean to deny your own experiences and that which you have empirically learned through the years. It means to trust your self to integrate intuition and experience. There is a balance, a harmony to be nurtured, between the head and the heart. When the intuition rings clear and true, loving impulses are favoured.”
Brian Weiss
I love this wisdom by one of my favourite authors Brian Weiss. Connecting our past embodied experience with the intuition of the present moment gives rise to a very grounded and solid inner knowing. Our intuition is a gift of sight beyond the eyes and coupled with the strength of memory and experience.
This is one of the best and shortest videos that gives a clear explanation of what is intuition by the Spiritual master Deepak Chopra have a listen here:
Living powerful, purposeful lives with the use of our intuition is like a homing beacon.
